“I am the bread of life. He who comes to me will never go hungry; he who believes in me will never thirst” (John 6:35)
It is during Divine Liturgy that the wheat bread and grape wine are transubstantiated by the priest into the flesh and blood of Christ. Christ is really present in the Holy Eucharist. The sacrament effects union with Christ; it is nourishment for the soul, gives increase in grace and remits venial sin and punishment.
